Handy Hints for Ordering and DIY.

All fencing projects need a little modest planning, a few basic tools, the fence, instructions if you need them and some idea of what you are going to do.

The plastic fencing component parts are lighter, will last longer and generally be easier and safer to handle and install than traditional wood and concrete fencing products. All our components are ready prepared and come complete with all screws caps and full instructions on how to fit.

All Fence panels can be made larger or smaller as required using Panel add-ons (larger) and Panel adjustment kit (smaller).

The site: This will need to be ready prepared and with any old walls, hedge, and/or fencing removed from site.

Post and Panels need a post hole every 1844mm with 1842mm(72.5ins) between posts. A panel can be made smaller to fit into a smaller gap. Square post and Trellis will need a post hole every interval based upon the width of the trellis + 100mm.

Square Post and Rail systems need a post hole every 1530mm  (60.6ins) and posts are set at 1440mm between each post.

We recommend setting posts into square holes  600mm (2ft) deep 450mm (18ins) across and back filled with dry mix concrete. Posts shorter than (8ft) 2400mm above ground can be set shallower at 100mm per 300mm less of post height.

All our Panels will fit with existing concrete posts which should be in reasonable condition and vertical.

Choosing the height : Fence panels are available in heights of, 600 (2ft), 900mm (3’), 1200mm (4’), 1500mm (5’), and 1800mm (6’).

Fence H-Posts are available in 2400mm(8’), 2100mm(7’), 1800mm(6’), 1500mm(5’) and for special orders 3000mm(10’).

Fence Square post and Rail or Picket is available in heights of 600 (2ft), 900mm(3’), 1200mm(4’),  and 1500mm(5’).

Domed or Crescent trellis tops ( 355 mm) are available to extend the top of the panels and to add décor or extra privacy.

The height of post that you will need is always 600mm(2’) + the height of panels (including trellis top), +25mm and any allowance in height needed for the next panel along, especially where the ground is either rising or falling.

A Gravel board 140mm (5”) high can be sunk into the ground and maybe useful to ‘level’ the fence line.

Fitting Hints (simple). Once the site is ready for the fence, and the holes dug,  make sure you have brought to site everything you will need to finish the job. Read and follow the simple fitting instructions supplied with the product. You can obtain advice on most aspects from your supplier either before you order or even during the job.

Use a string to keep the line of the fence straight on the ground. Ensure the post tops are level or stepped to follow a slope.  Use a piece of wood cut to 1842mm, as a spacer to ensure every gap between each post is accurate, and a sprit level to ensure each post is vertical and in line.

Each H- post is already pre-drilled at several heights to receive the special bolts, which hold and connect the panels to each other through the post and connect the whole fence line together. It is this bolt system that produces the Our fencing has unique Gale-proof and added security features. Finish off with the caps; add an H-post fillet to any end post or the visible part where there is a step change in height. For post and Rail follow the rail fitting instructions supplied.

No preservative treatment is ever required, your plants will grow happily without problems caused by the fence. You can attach screws and wires without any concern.

Gates are best hung from a wall or a hardwood or concrete post, sized for hanging a gate. Picket gates are available in widths greater than 900mm on request.

Estimating what you will need

1.   H- Posts (for panels) or Square posts (for post and rail) No's; add up the number you will need and include the last post in the line unless you are fixing to something already there like a wall or a shed.

If you are continuing round a corner then you only need a single post at the corner.

Fillet (s) 1800mm in length. These are for filling in and covering  the exposed steel in post ends and stepped posts. Brown silicone sealant finishes off the appearance and holds  the fillet in place.

Concrete for the hole. Each posthole will consume .1215mm³(30kg) of dry-mix concrete, available from a builders merchant. (or self mix concrete, 2 bags of 20mm limestone chippings, 1 bag of sand & ½ bag of cement will do for 3 posts)

2.    Nos. of Panels.  You will need sufficient panels to fit between the posts.

Add-ons (18mm strips 1810 high ) will be needed if the gap between a concrete post is greater than 1860mm(6’2”)

Adjustment-Kit will be needed to make a panel smaller than 1810mm in width.

      Gravel boards. As required

3.   Tools etc.

The following will prove useful:- Spade, Tenon or Hack saw to cut plastic or steel, masonry bit 7 mm to drill concrete posts, Ordinary 6mm wood drill bit to drill holes in panels, Electric or battery drill, flex? (with an electrical safety cut out), Hammer, Spirit level, Spanner or deep 8mm socket & ratchet; String line to keep everything straight and true, Wooden board 1842mm(72.5ins) long as a  spacer.

All the necessary fixings  for any complete Fence system ordered are supplied.

Fencing Systems are Guarantee failure providing it is installed correctly and to the instructions provided.
