What to consider when designing a bifold opening that works in daily use
A good quotation begins with the property and the way the opening will be used. We look at number of panels, traffic door, stacking direction, threshold, drainage, glass and structural opening. The best answer is not always the same for every room, so it is worth considering privacy, daylight, furniture positions and how often an opening will be used before settling on a specification.

From first enquiry to finished order

The price reflects the actual Sheerline configuration, glass, colour, threshold and hardware, together with access and installation. Wider openings and heavier panels require careful specification rather than a price per metre.

A bifold is a set of moving panels, not simply a glazed wall. The useful design depends on where the panels stack, whether a traffic door is needed and how the threshold relates to the structure, internal floor and external drainage.

Sheerline publishes U-values of 1.4 W/m²K double glazed and 1.0 W/m²K triple glazed for qualifying Prestige bifold configurations. Final sizes, glass and performance are checked before manufacture.

How many bifold panels can I have?
Sheerline Prestige bifolds can be configured up to seven panes, subject to overall dimensions, panel weights and the selected arrangement. We design the split and stacking direction around the opening.
What is a traffic door?
A traffic door is a single panel that can be opened for everyday access without folding the complete set. It is particularly useful when the bifolds are the regular route to the garden.
What must be planned around the threshold?
Internal and external floor levels, drainage, weather exposure and the supporting structure all affect threshold design. These details should be resolved before the opening and patio are finished.
